The original Nokia 3210, launched in March 1999, was a significant milestone in mobile phone design and functionality. Designed by Alastair Curtis at Nokia’s Los Angeles Design Center, the 3210 was among the first mass-market mobile phones to feature an internal antenna, a design choice that contributed to its sleek and compact form factor. Weighing 151 grams and measuring 123.8 x 50.5 x 22.5 mm, it was notably thinner than its predecessors.Aimed at the youth market, the 3210 came with three pre-installed games: Snake, Memory, and Rotation, which contributed to its widespread appeal. It also introduced Nokia’s Composer software, allowing users to create custom monophonic ringtones, and supported picture messaging via SMS. The phone’s customizable “Xpress-on” covers enabled users to personalize their devices, a feature that resonated with younger consumers.In 2024, HMD Global announced a revival of the Nokia 3210, updating it with modern features while preserving its classic aesthetic. The new model supports 4G connectivity, features a 2 MP rear camera with LED flash, and includes a 2.4-inch QVGA display. It is powered by the Unisoc T107 processor, with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card up to 32 GB. The device also boasts a removable 1450 mAh battery, providing up to 9.8 hours of talk time, and charges via USB Type-C. Additional features include Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, MP3 player, and FM radio.
